Well, my friends, it's been a year and a half since my last post. At this point, I'm strongly considering redirecting this blog to a more focused purpose, or else starting a whole new blog. The new title/blog would be "Portrait of the Artist", based upon one of my Pinterest albums. Its focus would be on Artists and Craftsmen of the late 18th century, and possibly into the 19th. I may simply cover the entire Georgian era, the period of the reigns of the first three Kings George, from 1714 to 1820. I would not only focus upon the artists and their work, but also on their work, the tools and materials they used, and some general philosophical observations on the mind and life of an Artist. I might also do posts focusing on Artists and Craftspeople within the Living History community, and how they are inspired by the work of our ancestral Artists. An individual post might focus on an individual Artist of the period, like August Houdon; a particular tool or material, like artists' lay figures or watercolor box sets; A brief biography of a reenacting friend who has incorporated art, craftsmanship, or "Natural Philosophie" into their historical persona, and discussion of the trials, tribulations, and general philosophical elements of living the creative life. It will also include generous amounts of actual proofreading, as I see that I tend to neglect that! SO if you see that this blog has been renamed, (or even CAN be renamed)then please feel free to on this exploration of the life of an Historical Artist.
